Arsene Sari, Oil On Panel Bouquet De Fleurs

    (1895 - 1995)

Delightful oil on panel depicting a bouquet of flowers.

This Oil is Signed Bottom Right by the Artist Listed and Sided, Arsène Sari (1895 - 1995)

Arsène Sari was the son of Moïse Sari and Marie Magdeleine Calvi. He was the grandson of Léon Sari, a theatrical figure with links to the Bonaparte family.
After the First World War, in which he was wounded four times and awarded the Légion d'Honneur and the Médaille Militaire, Arsène Sari settled in the Montparnasse district of Paris, where he lived for over thirty years, working for the Paris Metro. At the same time, he pursued a career as a painter, meeting most of the great artists of the early 20th century. He became friends with Antoine Bourdelle and received advice from Auguste Renoir. In October 1928, he co-founded the Salon des Vrai Indépendants, where he exhibited until the Second World War, and exhibited in Paris at the Salon d'Hiver from 1937 to 1947. From time to time, he returned to the Midi for extended periods, notably to Marseille in the post-war years, and lived with his wife in Roquevaire, in a former factory in the town, from 1964 to 1978. There, he became the dean of the Péano painters, a community of artists based in the Arcenaulx district of Marseille, including Pierre Ambrogiani, Antoine Ferrari, Antoine Gianelli, Jo Berto, René Sayssaud, Auguste Chabaud and Antoine Serra. Arsène Sari then lived near Sens (Yonne), then for over ten years in Rigny le Ferron (Aube), where he had a workshop. Married to Arlette Galibert, he has three children, Évelyne, Philippe and Véronique.

Work of very fine craftsmanship, framed.
