Paul Rudolph Linke was a German painter of landscapes and orientalist subjects. Here, he painted Tiberias and its lake as seen from the east. This is a rare subject, treated with beautiful colors by an Orientalist painter who depicted the picturesque sites of the Near East in the 1880s, particularly in Egypt (Abu Simbel, Karnak) and Palestine. The painting is dated 1882.
