    Georges JOUBIN 1888-1983
French painter of seascapes, genre scenes, portraits, nudes…
In 1906, he entered the Académie Julian in the studio of Jean Pierre Laurens, then, in 1908, at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the studio of Gabriel Ferrier. He has exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants, in Paris, since 1918, and has participated in almost all the Parisian salons: Tuileries, Automne, Luxembourg, at the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts of which he is a member of the committee. In 1929, he participated in the founding of the School of Montmartre with Dignimont, Asselin, Pascin, Bonnard, etc.
If he painted still lifes, flowers, portraits and nudes, it is in his landscapes of cities, of Paris, of his neighborhood, with its hawkers and its animation, that he is most faithful to his personality. Vigorous realist, in the tradition of Marquet. He remained attached to the style of the 1930s where the shapes were clearly outlined and the colors laid out in flat areas.
