This beautiful oil on canvas is a reproduction of the left-hand side of the painting "The Three Ages of Man" by the Italian Renaissance master of the Venetian school, Tiziano Vecellio, known as Titian. This copy, made in the 19th century by an excellent hand, is extremely faithful to the original and of very high quality. It takes up the left-hand side of the painting, where a young couple appear to be about to kiss. Our painting measures 90/90 centimetres and the original measures 90/150 centimetres. Our painting is therefore the exact size of the original for the part represented. The painting is presented in an attractive period frame gilded with gold leaf. The original painting has been in the National Gallery of Scotland since 1798, when it was purchased from the House of Orleans by the Duke of Bridgewater, Francis Egerton, but several copies are known to exist, including one in the collection of the Doria-Pamphilj Gallery in Rome.
