Italian School, first half of the 18th century (circa 1720–1745)

An elegant, idealized portrait of Laura de Noves (1310–1348), traditionally associated with the muse of the Italian poet Francesco Petrarch.
Depicted in profile holding a rose, the young woman is in keeping with the tradition of female portraits inspired by the Italian Renaissance and Petrarchan imagination. The composition, of great restraint, stands out against a dark background, highlighting the finesse of the drawing, the delicate flesh tones, and the harmony of the colors.
An old handwritten label preserved on the reverse identifies the subject as:

"La bella Laura de Noves, Dame de Sade sung by Petrarch."
    Oil on canvas.

    Canvas dimensions: 65 × 51 cm.

Presented in a modern, classically styled frame with a gilt finish.
    Condition:
    Good overall condition.

The artwork shows signs of wear, cracks, restorations, and repairs consistent with its age. The antique canvas has slightly loosened due to use, but this does not detract from the artwork's overall appearance.

The piece remains sound, stable, and offers a particularly harmonious and decorative presentation.
