Description

On this panel, with an illegible signature in the lower right corner, King David playing the harp—depicted as a sculpture intended to adorn architecture—the prophet, seated on a stone entablature, plucks the strings of his instrument. As if engraved in stone, the name "Davidde" leaves no doubt as to the figure's identity and certainly indicates the painter's Italian origins. Perhaps a design for the ornamentation of a church. Dimensions: 23 x 12 cm. 19th-century frame.
