Large Kutani porcelain dish with gilt bronze mounts. Japan Meiji period. Second-half 19th century for both the porcelain and the mount. Dish with polychrome "five-color" gilded decoration featuring characters: samurai, geisha, sumo, calligrapher, etc. Gallery and base with gilded bronze openwork frieze. Base decorated with Buddhist lion heads. Kutani signature on the underside. Note a restored crack.
