Very large 58.5 cm high vase from the Jaget-Pinon factory in Tours.
Object in perfect condition, with no cracks or chips. There is a slight chip visible from below on the edge of the foot, which is difficult to locate when the vase is placed on the table.
One side features a large gilded motif of a bird with outstretched wings surrounded by two curved laurel branches. It is surmounted by a knotted ribbon, whose two falling sides are set in a wreath of flowers, elegantly embellished with green and brown touches.
On the other side, a smaller, equally meticulous gilded motif features a laurel branch subtly drawn in an S-shape.
The rest of the vase is dotted with other curved branches of reduced laurel.
The perimeter of the base is encircled by a band of bright gold, while the flat part is adorned with a frieze of laurel leaves on a bluish-grey background, encircled on both sides by matt gold.
Under the base is the gold manufacture stamp, with the letters JP framing a tower underlined by the word France.
The neckline follows the same design as the base, with a wide bluish-gray band adorned with a large frieze of flowers and leaves, this time encircled by bright gold.
The alternation of bright and matt gold, and the discreet presence of color, are the hallmark of the extreme care taken in decorating this piece and the finesse of its execution.
Its great originality lies in its color. While the vast majority of Jaget-Pinon's production is in a blue known as "de Tours", "de Sèvres" or "de four," here we discover a rare, softer "petroleum blue" that contrasts much less with the gilding.
Elegance and softness are the terms that best characterize this large vase, which will bring added refinement to your interior.
