In the past, in grand houses, staff did not deliver mail to their masters by hand, but rather placed it on a tray.

The model we are offering is simple and elegant: rectangular without handles and simply decorated in the center with an oval of braided twigs from which a small branch of laurel leaves emerges on either side. The rim features the same delicate foliage design.
This tray is in very good condition, with no silver plating loss on either the top or the back. There are very few micro-scratches, attesting to its light use. It is neither too small nor too large, measuring 29.3 cm long by 23.5 cm wide.

The clearly legible hallmarks indicate that this is a fairly old piece: the first, a bee surmounted by a star and framed by the initials CC for Charles Christofle; the second, a balance surmounted by four stars, with two branches below, also framed by the initials CC, all within an oval inset in a rectangle. These two hallmarks of the Christofle company predate 1935, the year in which the initials CC were replaced by OC for Orfèvrerie Christofle (Christofle Silversmiths).

This beautiful object will charm you; it is ready to be repurposed for use in tableware or to grace a fine display case of precious objects.
