This large pair of porcelain vases is painted with large polychrome flower bouquets on a dark beige background. They are arranged inside large springs, encircled by a wide ribbon of bright, amatized gold, adorned with a frieze of pastilles. The midnight-blue bottom of the vase is enhanced by a rich gold decoration, consisting of a wave-like movement punctuated by fleurons, which runs down to the neck. The neck, adorned with a fleuron, features two small garlands of leaves on either side, climbing up to the slightly flared rim. These high-quality ornaments are reminiscent of the prestigious production of the Sèvres manufactory. The vases rest on an elegant ormolu base edged with two rows of pearls, and two small ormolu falls featuring a twig supporting a few ivy leaves are applied to the body between the reserves.
The reverse of these vases is unmarked, but their high quality has led us to associate them with certain Parisian manufacturers, such as Dagoty, Rousseau, Honoré, Dihl or others, many of whom may have competed with the Manufacture de Sèvres, all the more so as the artists who decorated the porcelain moved from one to the other according to their engagements. Although these delicately painted bouquets of flowers have inspired the greatest respect, their composition on a colored background, which seems unusual to us, has prevented us from attributing them to one or the other.
The vases are in perfect condition, with no restoration and original bronze gilding.
