A bronze sculpture in very good condition by Jean Bulio (1827-1911) depicting "Venus and Cupid."

It represents Venus, goddess of love, accompanied by the winged Cupid.

This piece, typical of Bulio's academic and mythological style, measures approximately 48 cm in height. It is highly prized and sought after for its delicate rendering and the quality of its chasing.
This sculpture is characteristic of the artist's work and has a patina reminiscent of a medal.

Signed on the base with the Susse Frères foundry mark engraved on the back.

Jean Bulio (1827-1911) was a French sculptor born in Fabrègues (Hérault) and died in Montpellier.
Trained in Paris under Armand Toussaint, he later entered the École des Beaux-Arts. He is best known for his bronze sculptures, particularly busts and mythological figures (such as Venus and Cupid).

His works, often created using the lost-wax casting technique, are distinguished by their realism and exquisite detail.
