Art Deco Sculpture “Antiope” – Fayral (Pierre Le Faguays) – Max Le Verrier Edition
An elegant Art Deco sculpture entitled “Antiope,” created by Fayral, the pseudonym of the renowned sculptor Pierre Le Faguays (1892-1962), one of the leading figures in French decorative sculpture from 1925 to 1935. This iconic model was produced by the Max Le Verrier workshops around 1930.
The sculpture depicts Antiope, Queen of the Amazons in Greek mythology, captured in a remarkably elegant pose. Her body is taut with dynamic energy, her arms outstretched, holding her spear with great skill. The flowing drapery, the stylized treatment of the figure, and the balanced lines perfectly embody the Art Deco aesthetic, combining modernity, power, and refinement.
Made of art cast iron with its original green patina, it rests on its original molded reconstituted stone base. The sculpture is signed "Fayral" on the side of the base, as is customary for early editions by Max Le Verrier.

It is in very good condition with a uniform antique patina. The javelin is present, which is significant as it is frequently missing from this model.

    Dimensions:

    Height: 40 cm
Length: 41 cm (including the javelin)
    Depth: 9 cm

This work is now one of the most sought-after pieces by Pierre Le Faguays, both for the quality of its composition and for its emblematic status within the Art Deco period.
