    Sheathed front legs, forming armrests with claws and a winged bust depicting the face of Napoleon Bonaparte.
    Saber-shaped back legs, straight belt with convex front, decorated with palmettes and canals. Straight armrests, face with semicircular cross-section. Lotus-shaped back connection with carved base, doucine back, fluted on all four sides.

    Superb horsehair fabric.

    A suite of 6 identical armchairs delivered by the Jacob brothers in May 1802 to the Palais de Fontainebleau. One, still in the collections of the Mobilier national, inventory number GMT-7760-001.

    Also to be compared with the series of Jacob Frères chairs conserved at Malmaison, made for Madame Bonaparte's (Mother) reception room at the Château de Saint-Cloud, circa 1802.
