Turpe bentwood chairs are well known in Alsace-Lorraine, having been introduced during the annexation between 1871 and 1914, and are still used by Alsatians and Moselle residents. The factory opened in 1868 and was still in operation in 1937, see attached catalog.
We offer here a model not yet available from Turpe, an almost exact copy of Thonet's N°31, a beautiful, plush, elegant chair. The curves of the back legs are more pronounced than on the Thonet model. It is in perfect condition, with recent caning.
Much of the labeling is under the seat.
Dimensions: H: 91 cm, seat height: 47cm, seat diameter: 41.5 cm
