Beautiful pair of chairs in rosewood and light wood marquetry designed by the cabinetmakers of the Maison Jeanselme, which furnished imperial palaces such as those in Fontainebleau. This company distinguished itself during the Universal Exhibitions like the one in 1855. We find on each seat the stencil mark of this prestigious company.
Each of these chairs has a rounded openwork back formed by a stylized cross decorated with light wood inlays forming volutes and a star in the center. The curved band at the top is also decorated with marquetry. The sides of the backrest descend in a beautiful curve to the side rails of the seat, giving an enveloping look to these elegant chairs.
These chairs are highlighted by light wood fillets following their curves and embellished with flowers.
They rest on two front legs in hock with scroll. The back legs are turned outwards for a perfect stability.
The rear part of the seat is rounded. The seat is squared off for perfect balance and extreme durability. The chairs are equipped with a removable seat upholstered in a recent cream and gold silk fabric that can be changed as desired.
These Charles X chairs are remarkable for the quality of their wood and the beauty of their inlays.
