Restoration-period oil and vinegar cruet in vermeil (solid silver gilded with fine gold). Beautifully decorated with palmettes on an openwork terrace.

The Vieillard 1st hallmark dates it from after 1819. It bears the goldsmith's hallmark of Denis Garreau, inscribed in 1817.

Our oil and vinegar cruet is a fine example of early 19th-century silverware. It is a fine collector's item, made all the rarer by the fact that it is in vermeil. It is matched by two crystal bottles - oil cruet and vinegar cruet - probably made by Baccarat.

All in excellent condition, no dents or missing decoration, perfect bottles.
