Religious clock* in painted wood enhanced with gilding, pediment adorned with two small fire pots, gilded brass dial decorated with a bust of Louis XIV, Roman numerals in enameled cartouches, below two female figures holding a floral garland, representing Allegories (Science on the right with globe and compass; Abundance on the left), late 17th century.
This pendulum is in good overall condition and is of high quality. It works, but will need to be overhauled. The striking rod and hinge have been changed subsequently. We have the key.
    With its wooden bracket.
Please note: a small fire pot is a little tilted, a few old worm holes, traces of restoration on the painted wood, a few cracks on the wood of the console, wear and tear, please look at the photos.
    ________________________________
*From the middle of the 17th century, the pendulum appeared in France, replacing the foliot mechanisms of clocks. The religious clock was one of the leading models in the reign of the Sun King. The Louis XIV religious clock: the case of the religious clock, often rectangular, is topped by a pediment or doucine and fire pots. It is framed by pilasters or columns. The case may be in Boulle marquetry or wood veneer, enhanced by gilded and chased bronzes. The dial, in brass or gilded bronze, occupies a prominent place on the façade.
