Important Empire-style clock featuring Mercury, the messenger of the gods, finely chased in gilded bronze. He is depicted with his winged helmet and caduceus, in the elegant gesture of adjusting or removing his winged sandal, bringing dynamism and refinement to the composition.
The veined Sienna marble base, in a beautiful shaded ochre tone, is adorned with ormolu sconces featuring a lyre in the center, embellished with snakes, foliage and other motifs. The set rests on four finely-worked claw feet.
