Black marble clock decorated with elements of gilded or patinated bronze, made by the Master Clockmaker Gillion installed 5, rue de braque in Paris, in the early nineteenth century.
This beautiful clock is topped by a galant holding a tambourine and accompanied by a basket filled with grapes at her feet. The sculpture in bronze with a medallion patina is different from the tambourine, the basket and the bunches of grapes, which are made of gilded bronze.
The young woman dressed in an elegant dress wears a cross around her neck and wears on her hair a large crown alternating vine leaves and bunches of grapes. Like Bacchante, we find the attributes of the God of drunkenness around her.
The black marble clock has a white enamel dial with black Roman numerals signed "Gillion à Paris". The perimeter of this dial is decorated with garlands of pearls and rich ornamentation: scrolls, foliage, pompoms and garlands of flowers.
Underneath, a large frieze with scrolls and medallion, overhangs a magnificent bronze base with brown patina featuring scrolls, flowers and fruits.
This richly decorated bicentennial clock will please you with its bronze ornaments and intense colors.
