Democratic Republic of Congo, Kusu people, first half of the 20th century, very pretty statue of power with cranial charge representing a standing man in a hieratic pose reminiscent of the ancestral sculptures of the Hemba.
The character is represented standing on a circular base, his legs half bent, his hands placed on either side of his stomach and his face well drawn with a long striated beard.
The Kusu have a sculptural tradition very close to their powerful neighbors Hemba, Songye and Tétéla.
Height 44.5 cm (49 cm with its base).
The scale witness in the last photograph is a small model of a lighter from a well-known brand.
Good state of conservation except for slight normal wear and without impact.
