    Flat samurai WEAPON HAT
    Ichimonji Jingasa
    Japan, Edo period (1603-1868)
    Wood and lacquer
    Diam. : 43; H.: 4 cm
    (slight losses)

    This circular headgear is made of wood finely decorated with textured lacquer on the upper part and smooth and shiny on the reverse. A kamonet decoration of green and red ocher volutes occupy the main disc.
    Lemon, the family heraldic symbol, placed on the front was used by the Tokugawa.
    On the reverse, this weapon hat is black lacquered.
