    An exceptional piece, this Art Nouveau vase by the artist Edouard Lièvre is a glass cornet vase with a rich, ornamental silvered bronze structure, Japonisante bamboo style, signed by Christofle in Paris. The fashion for Japonisme at the end of the 19th century in France led the Maison Christofle to create elaborate pieces such as this slender tripod vase with its worked bamboo branches, bent, intricately assembled and finely represented with young shoots in the Asian spirit; between the finely chiselled feet (worked roots). A cracked glass cone receptacle for the flowers. The result is a handsome centerpiece of great elegance and refinement, just as this prestigious Maison circa 1890 knew how to do, in the same vein as "plants in decoration". A fine museum piece.....
