Elegant chased bronze inkwell signed Barbedienne, a 19th-century Parisian foundryman, dated circa 1870. The neoclassical style, inspired by Antiquity, can be seen in the feet adorned with feline heads, the twisted handle, the lid surmounted by a helmeted bust and the stylized plant motifs. Uniform patina in excellent overall condition. Only the small ceramic bowl is missing. Dimensions: 18 × 17 cm.
