A late 18th-century work by a congregation, in a montage of papierolles framing a large paste plaque of molded and then painted relics, in the effigy of the Child.
He is represented here as Salvator Mundi, i.e. crowned, carrying a scepter and cruciferous orb symbolizing Christ's temporal and spiritual dominion.
The relic paste is a mixture of plaster, glue and relic dust. A label in the upper left-hand corner DPSM, an acronym standing for "De Plusieurs Saints Martyrs", attests to their presence.
Saint Germier, a bishop, is also present with a clearly visible ex-ossibus relic. He was bishop of Toulouse in the 6th century.
This piece measures 42 cm by 35 cm and is in excellent condition.
