    Magnificent, rare and extraordinarily well-preserved reliquary, this devotional object comes from the French religious & funerary crafts of the 19th century during the Second Empire of Napoleon III.

    It contains strands of carefully braided hair set against a light background, probably of a deceased woman, formed into a cross & accompanied by foliage. This symbolizes love for the deceased, and attachment to lost ones. The whole is protected by a black wooden frame typical of the Napoleon III period, and curved glass.
