Rare and very elegant model of Empire period console in mahogany and rosewood, attributed to François-Honoré-Georges Jacob Desmalter (1770-1841) whose production period is between 1796 and 1825.
With the purest antique architecture and a well-studied design, this console presents a very successful proportion of the employee sections, which gives it a timeless side.
Only the two console feet are worked, these two sculptures whose finesse of execution is impeccable make the connection between the base of strong section and the lintel all, both strictly straight and angular, contrasting and perfectly highlighting the two jambs, the architecture immediately echoes a chimney facade.
The bronzes which are the original ones are of superb quality as befits a beautiful Empire piece of furniture, finely chiseled they are mercury gilded with matte and shiny parts.
The console opens with a drawer in the belt, this large drawer entirely built in oak is locked by a system placed under the belt, by pressing we unlock and thus we can pull the drawer, this latch system also ensures the stop avoiding dropping the drawer.
The piece of furniture is topped with a thick marble 30mm thick, light gray in color veined with different colors, this marble is also very uncommon and most attractive, it blends perfectly with the warm dark color of the rosewood.
Furniture in very good house condition, some very small chips on the edges of the marble.
