Empire period Biedermeier secretary with coat of arms in burr walnut.
Early 19th century. From Hungary.
It is made of burr walnut veneer on the outside
on the outside and lemon and cherry veneer on the inside. Detached columns
fronts. Lion's paw front legs. The flap reveals a theater composed of a marquetry niche
columns simulating a patio, a series of seven drawers, two other niches and a door.
and a door with a secret opening. This door is embellished with a drawing of
two antique-style women and a Hungarian coat of arms (a patriarchal cross in a medallion
topped by the crown of St. Stephen). The latter opens onto four drawers, two of which
conceal a fifth drawer at the back. The lower part opens onto two doors and three drawers.
Numerous bronzes decorating lion's heads, palm trees, women's profiles... Three original
with three keys. An owner's annotation to be deciphered, dated 1819.
