A charming chiffonier with three stacked drawers at the front.

Resting on four tapered legs ending in their original small bronze sabots, it reflects a Louis XVI style. The front is organized around a shallow upper drawer above two larger drawers, separated by exposed rosewood-veneered rails. Each drawer has its own bronze pull.

The piece is constructed on a frame combining oak and fir. The four uprights are made of oak, while fir is used for the panels, the top, and the drawer construction.

The entire ornamentation is based on rosewood veneer, arranged in a bookbinder pattern.

This decorative technique is repeated on the top, the drawer fronts, the sides, and the back of the piece. Each panel is composed of rosewood leaves joined in a bookbinder pattern. The design is highlighted by a frame formed by a band of sycamore wood combined with a black-stained wood fillet, the whole edged with cherry veneer. This combination of rosewood, an imported exotic wood, and cherry, a wood widely used in regional production in eastern France, gives the piece a particularly harmonious contrast.

The uprights are also veneered in rosewood, with the veneers arranged diagonally to extend the overall design of the frieze and ensure decorative continuity between the different panels of the piece.

The top is bordered on three sides by a thin walnut gallery forming a discreet rim.

Veneered on all four sides, this piece was not necessarily intended to be placed against a wall but could stand freely in a living room, study, or bedroom, allowing its design to be appreciated from all angles.

The drawers retain their original construction. Made of fir, the front pieces are dovetailed, while the back pieces are nailed together.

The piece has been cleaned and revarnished.

In very good condition. Some minor signs of wear consistent with its age.
