Very original late 19th-century bedside cabinet. When closed, the bedside cabinet looks classic, but it's not. This bedside cabinet was patented by Amand Gauvain (iron mark on the wood). It has 3 functions. It can be used as a bedside table. The chamber pot could be placed in the trapdoor that houses two false drawers.
The marble top opens and the first drawer slides out. The interior is covered with a fine lemon veneer.
Finally, the bedside cabinet is also a vanity. In fact, the back of the cabinet is designed to open. A cupboard is hidden and a basin unfolds. (The basin is missing).
Good overall condition, the veneer is a little damaged on one side. A small piece of wood is missing from the lower rear section.
The marble has a small crack (see photos).
