An elegant Louis XVI-period parlor table, made in Paris during the last third of the 18th century, stamped by master cabinetmaker Pierre Denizot (who became a master in 1740 and was active until 1782), official supplier to the Count of Artois from 1776 onward and creator of royal and princely commissions for Saint-Germain-en-Laye and Maisons-Laffitte. His output, primarily in the Louis XV and Transition styles, makes pieces in the pure Louis XVI style, such as this one, particularly rare.
Circular in shape, it features a white marble top delicately veined with gray, set within a rim and surrounded by a slender openwork brass rail.
The top rests on a central mahogany and mahogany-veneered shaft, supported by three slender, slightly arched legs. These are joined by a circular crossbar and terminate in small bronze feet shaped like animal paws.
The underside of the tablet bears the stamp “PIERRE DENIZOT,” accompanied by the guild hallmark “JME,” attesting to its manufacture in Paris during the Ancien Régime.
This pedestal table captivates with the lightness of its silhouette, the delicacy of its openwork rail, and the elegant combination of marble, mahogany, and bronze. Its compact dimensions make it suitable for use as a side table, end table, or display pedestal table.
