This large spherical vase from Manufacture de Longwy is an absolute rarity: a unique piece, hand-signed by M. P. Chevallier and dated January 1943, from a pivotal moment between the last flamboyances of Art Deco and the sensual beginnings of 1950s modernism.
Measuring 37 cm in diameter and height, it stands out for its formal power and the delicacy of its decoration. The flowers, hand-painted in a palette of yellow, pink, moss green and mineral blue, unfurl with rhythmic freedom against a crackled ivory background, at once vibrant and soothing.

Created in January 1943, during the Occupation, at a time when artistic production was slowed down, constrained and sometimes even forbidden, this vase bears witness to the persistence of a creative spirit despite the shadows of time.

Unlike the emblematic Longwy models - Normandie, Colonial - this vase has never been seen for sale, nor reproduced, nor catalogued. Even visual recognition tools fail to track it down. It is a solitary work, a non-reproducible artist's gesture, a ceramic thoroughbred for the discerning collector.

In a sober, contemporary interior, this vase stands out as a centerpiece, set on a console in natural wood, veined marble or black lacquer. It also evokes the refinement of a modern cabinet of curiosities, in which the art of fire and the hand converse with the memory of the twentieth century.

Some works have no twins: they were born to stand alone, like certain stars.

A few old chips are visible at the base (see last 3 photos), but these have no impact on the aesthetic reading or heritage value of the object, as the overall presence and uniqueness of this piece surpass this detail.
