    A refined pair of bronze and cloisonné enamel candlesticks, typical of the eclectic taste of the Napoleon III style. The decoration features stylized geometric motifs with radiating symmetry, executed in cloisonné enamel on a midnight-blue background, in shades of light blue, ivory and gold.

    The slender shafts, compartmentalized circular base and flared bobèches testify to the skill of French bronziers and enamellers circa 1880. This type of ornamentation is part of a historicist aesthetic blending neo-Renaissance influences with stylized oriental inspirations.
