    KNIFE called Katar Djamadhar
    Mughal Empire, India, early 19th century
    Iron, steel, gold damascene
    Total length: 45.8 cm - Blade length: 24.3 cm

    Steel blade, double-edged, with median ridges and double recessed gutters. Pierced mesh tip. Each side is decorated with a flower and three cartouches in gold damascene (traces of corrosion).

    The forge is integral, leading to a U-shaped handle composed of a double branch, convex on the outside, and linked by two crossbars. It is richly decorated with gold damascene, floral motifs and friezes.

    Beautiful preservation of the original damask.
