Sapper's Sabre

Steel, brass, leather
Overall length: 68 cm; Blade length: 48.8 cm

Brass hilt.
Pommeau in the form of a crowing rooster's head, with its tongue glued to the lower part of the beak.
Grip feathered one-third of the way down and octagonal in shape.
Cross guard ending in two arched quillons and decorated with grooves and inspection marks.
Double-edged blade with a carp's tongue edge; triangular flat at the ricasso, central ridge.
Leather scabbard with a brass chape, numbered "912912", locket with inspection marks.
