Troupes coloniales physician lieutenant colonel kepi, model 1931.
This képi, without manufacturer, is beautifully made and particular to the Troupes coloniales, with a crimson velvet headband, rather well preserved here, and a black turban/calot.
The visor is made of leather, as is the thick visor band. The anchor is gold, as it should be. The two buttons holding the chinstrap in place feature the Troupes coloniales motif.
A not-so-common kepi for this rank and specialty, it ranks high among the Troupes coloniales kepi.
It is described in article 41, chapter II, title II of the Description des uniformes des Troupes coloniales (France, Algeria, Tunisia, Théâtres d'opérations extérieurs, colonies), volume dated April 1, 1935, published by Charles-Lavauzelle & Cie.
