ANCELME Narcisse (1862-1938)
French landscape and portrait painter.
He studied with Jules Adler at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He exhibited first at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants from 1907 to 1909,
then at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1922 to 1929.
He mainly painted countryside and forest landscapes, often imbued with the character of the time of day or the season.
He also painted figures and portraits, such as Portrait du sculpteur Niederhaüsern-Rodo.
Our canvas was painted just after the city of Reims was bombed after the First World War.
Appreciate the pastel colors, the impressionist touch, the photographic-inspired framing, which draws the viewer's gaze from one side of the frame to the other to discover the cathedral in all its splendor.
In a beautiful art nouveau setting
