Original oil on original wood panel, signed lower left.
Beautiful execution in the impressionist style specific to the artist illustrating 2 boats in the center, sailing on the Seine at undoubtedly a very reduced speed since the sails seem to be lowered. At the bottom of the work, we can see the very probable Rouen Cathedral as well as a few homes or buildings upstream. Frank and lively colors, particularly those of the vegetation and water, as well as beautiful luminosity. Stunning.

CONDITION
Painting : Varnish soiled and yellowed in places otherwise in excellent overall condition.
Frame : In good overall condition (various signs of wear and slight lacks). Missing veneer of the panel in no way affecting the condition of the work (back).

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Paul FLAUBERT was a painter passionate about animated scenes of characters of all kinds, hunting scenes, various landscapes, both urban, rural and lakeside. His pictorial style is very clearly influenced by the impressionist and neo-impressionist (pointillist) movements. which we continually find in his work and in which he has excelled throughout his career. The simultaneous presence of the 2 styles, one defined by a multitude of juxtaposed touches that the painter uses for the execution of the "background" of the work as well as for the environmental part of the latter, the other in a " smoothed” in order to better bring out the figures or subjects he wishes to highlight, as evidenced by this.
An artist gifted with gentle subtlety and obvious delicacy, increasingly present on the global art market and in numerous collections and whose progression continues to prove itself (particularly in the United Kingdom and in the USA).
