Simone DUVAL-WENTA (1934-2015) - "Seaside”
Referenced artist : Artprice, Benezit and various others
Reference Code : 114HST10P-S.DUVAL-WENTA
DETAILS
Original oil on original canvas, signed lower right.
Charming marine scene representing a seaside animated by 5 figures walking on the beach, 2 large birds on the left and a sailboat in the distance. This is most likely the Normandy coast where the artist lived for a long time (Calvados) and which she was particularly fond of.
Given the dress of the walkers and the apparently somewhat windy weather, we must undoubtedly be in the autumn period or at the very beginning of spring. Very pretty painting.

PROVENANCE : Private collection (Normandy)..
CONDITION
Painting : Good overall condition (pictorial surface somewhat dirty with time and small spots; a little cleaning would be welcome). Few small paint lacks particulary on the right lower edge.
Frame : in wood and stucco, in very good overall condition (small age wear marks and a lack of wood at the bottom left, on the back (natural flaw in the wood).

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born artist, inspired by the impressionists, Simone DUVAL-WENTA was a French watercolor painter well known in Cabourg where she lived for forty years.
At a very young age, attracted by drawing, she joined the Beaux-Arts of Saint-Etienne, then she followed courses at the Louvre in Paris.
She had her own gallery in Cabourg for a long time before offering visits directly to her studio. She produced animated scenes of various characters, urban landscapes, orientalist scenes, still lifes, etc... but her main concern was Cabourg and the Calvados, of which she illustrated all aspects in watercolor as well as numerous sites of the Normandy coast including Honfleur, Houlgate, Deauville, Étretat, Ouistreham, etc.).
Her works having been mainly executed in watercolor, pastel or simply drawn, the oils are, therefore, more difficult to find.
A member of Benezit, she received the distinction of “Knight of the International Order of Arts” as well as that of “Knight of Cultural Merit of Poland”, where she was from.
In 1995, she published “From Illiers-Combray to Cabourg-Balbec, in the footsteps of Marcel PROUST, 30 watercolors and texts”.
