Jacques Thévenet (1891-1989)
Painter, engraver and illustrator, was born in Burgundy, in the Morvan region, at Château de Montquin, where he lived out his remaining years.
Our painting is a view of his studio in the château.
For all painters, the studio represents the birthplace of their work.
The 20th century and modernity brought a more intimate version of the studio to the fore.
This is what Jacques Thévenet offers us
The artist says of his region and his home
"For me, the Morvan was Montquin.
Much more than its vast symphony, its true poetry was the stoop, the garden bench, the creaking of the well chain, the fields and meadows...
Even today, wherever I am, if I hear the rooster crow, I'm in Montquin. "
He has exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants and the Tuileries in Paris, in Amsterdam and Tokyo... His works can be found in many museums.
