Very beautiful bronze from the beginning of the 19th century on a Morello cherry marble base and gilded bronze tor, the bronze sculpture has a nuanced patina and is signed on the Lemire terrace, this quality titling as evidenced by the finish and the carving details, is made from one of the best-known sculptures by Charles Gabriel Sauvage known as Lemire, a French artist largely from the 18th century, born in 1741 and died in 1827.
The subject represents the god of love, Eros sitting on a draped rock, his legs in the air, his gaze concentrated, he is repairing his bow (he hangs the string on his bow), a copy in marble and bronze dating from the beginning from the 19th century from our former collections, entitled “Ange à l'arc” and signed Lemire is preserved at the Musée du pays de Sarrebourg.
All in very good condition, very slight wear to the patina.
