Large bronze with green patina entitled " L'Enfant Joyeux ", signed Benedict Benoît ROUGELET (1834-1894).
This French sculptor of undeniable talent realized this work in 1880.
"L'Enfant Joyeux" represents a young child holding a tambourine and a thyrse, usual attributes of Bacchus.
The smiling cherub with the chubby body represents the son of Jupiter dancing happily.
A crown of flowers encircles his forehead and his curly hair, reminiscent of an Italian Renaissance putto.
Laughing and playful, the young god of the vineyard is enjoying the pleasures of life.
This bronze is signed on the terrace and rests on a red marble base.
The freshness and lightness of this bronze with mythological inspirations, make it a charismatic, graceful and refined work.
