Hello, we propose you this very beautiful and old culpture in solid wood polychromed.
It dates from the XVIth century and has a nice size of 85 cm.
The virgin is sitting on a bench, holding the child on his knee, he holds in his hand a bird, certainly a dove.
The draperies are scukoté with precision, in particular the broken folds of the dress and the mantle of the virgin, which contrast with
the softness and the roundness of the features of the protagonists.
The postures of the characters, the draperies and the hair of the virgin animate the group.
The lines create a roundness from the head to the foot of Mary, enveloping the mother and child.
These characteristics are common to many of the late fifteenth-century Madonnas in the Upper Rhine.
Precision on the general condition:
Reworked to the polychromy and varnished, the bottom is earlier, the hand was redone around the 18th century.
It is nevertheless and good general condition
