For once, I'm offering you a piece from my personal collection.
This superb ottoman-style basket sofa was purchased in the early 2000s from the former caretaker of the Château de Penhoët in Grandchamp (56). This sofa had been bought by Karl Lagerfeld (1933-2019) for this château, where he had installed his mother, Elisabeth Bahlmann. Karl Lagerfeld restored the château and its gardens at great expense, a project honored by a visit from the Queen Mother of England in 1990.
After more than 20 years of service in our home, I am offering it for sale. The woodwork is sound, the wood retains its original lacquer, the silk is of high quality, the padding is in very good condition, and the seat cushion is, of course, filled with feathers.
No maker's mark is visible.
Please note one damaged front leg and a small tear in the silk upholstery (last photo). Delivery available at an additional cost.
