This Louis XIII style stool is made of solid walnut. It rests on four turned wooden legs joined by an X-shaped stretcher, in the center of which is a spinning top. The seat is upholstered in Napoleon III style needlepoint tapestry, decorated in polychrome with a floral motif. The turning is reminiscent of that found on small cabaret tables in the Canton of Valais, Switzerland.
