Superb Turkmen torba from the Yomuth tribe, dating from the late 19th century.
Originally, these decorative bags were attached to the back of camels during nomadic journeys, combining utilitarian function and aesthetic expression.
This piece is woven and knotted wool on wool, using traditional Central Asian techniques. The work is distinguished by its finesse of execution and remarkable precision in the rendering of tribal motifs.
The color palette is obtained exclusively from vegetable dyes, offering deep shades with a patina of age.
