    Also known as “War and Peace,” this clock, made of gilded bronze with a patina finish, is a design by François Vion (a model of which is on display at Versailles).

    Two putti flank the movement; one carries a helmet, spear, and shield, symbolizing the attributes of war; the other holds Cupid’s bow and arrows, symbolizing love.
    The movement is crowned by two doves of peace perched on a cloud.
    The base rests on four lion-paw feet connected by a drapery.
    Enameled dial, striking the hours and half-hours, pendulum movement in perfect working order.

    Very fine patina, gilding, and engraving.
