Kaganovich Leo Moiseevich was appointed on February 28, 1935 by Stalin to the post of People's Commissar of the Railways, while retaining his post of Secretary of the Central Committee.
In the period from 1935 to 1955, the metro was named after Lazar Kaganovich - the People's Commissar of Railways, who also headed the preparation of the general plan for the reconstruction of Moscow.
