First half of the 20th century
Wood and kaolin
H.: 20 ; L.: 15 ; Th.: 7 cm
(old accident)
Anthropomorphic mask in wood of oval shape with openwork eyes underlined by small circular perforations. The superciliary arches are drawn in two arcs of a circle meeting to form the nasal ridge. These lines are underlined by successive incised weights. His mouth draws a light smile, half-opened on small teeth.
The face of the mask itself forms a stylized heart, highlighted with white kaolin.
He danced during the initiation rite of the Bwani.
