    Complete Samurai Armor of the Okudaira Clan - Edo Period (1603-1868)
    JAPAN - Edo Period (1603-1868).

    Complete samurai armor.
    KABUTO (helmet) made of wrought iron with seventeen plates, matte brown lacquer.
    THEHEN NO ANA (opening at the top) made of gilded copper with three tiers of chased, openwork, patinated, and gilded copper; the first tier is decorated with foliate scrolls on a nanako background.
    SHIKORO (neck guard) with four tiers made of glossy black lacquered iron and blue silk braiding (minor losses).
    MABI SA SHI (visor) short made of wrought iron with matte brown lacquer, highlighted with a gilded copper band and centered with two Chinese characters inscribed within a disc.

    FUKIGAESHI (wings) small and lacquered black, adorned with the mon of the Okudaira clan.
    MAETATE in openwork and engraved copper, shaped like the iris of a boar's eye, at the front of the kabuto, and a rare second maetate at its summit in silver-lacquered wood depicting a disc adorned with reeds in the wind.
    MEMPO (half-mask) in wrought iron, with a pronounced chin, movable nose, brown horsehair mustache, visible and gilded teeth, pierced nostrils, and sweat holes under the chin.
    YODARE-KAKE (gorget) with four tiers, lacquered black and braided with blue silk.
    DO (breastplate) in eight sections, lacquered black and braided with blue silk (minor losses).
    SODE (shoulder guards) with eight tiers, lacquered black and braided with blue silk.

    KOTE (arm guards) made of chainmail and stamped metal plates with black lacquer.
    KUSAZURI (skirt) and HAIDATE (greaves) with four rows of black lacquer and blue silk braiding, the last row highlighted with hair.
    SUNEATE (greaves) made of black lacquered iron plates, chainmail, and blue braiding on quilted fabric.

    TETSUSABIJI KOGAKE (shoes) made of wrought iron plates with glossy black lacquer, chainmail, and quilted fabric, with a small chip in the lacquer on the left foot.
    SAIHAI (command staff) made of lacquered wood, copper, and paper strips.
    Dimensions of the armor in seated position: 148 x 84 x 68 cm.

    Sold with its double GUSOKU BITSU (carrying chests) made of wood and metal reinforcements, adorned with the Okudaira clan crest.
