Denis Bonnet (1789-1877) Portrait of François de Salignac de la Motte Fénelon, 1836, oil on canvas, 19 x 16 cm,  in its original gilded wooden frame from the Restoration period. It bears an inscription on the back: Painted by Bonnet, April 1836.
This is a resumption of the painting by Joseph Vivien (1657-1734) which was engraved in the 18th century by Augustin de Saint-Aubin (1736-1808).

Painter from Carpentras, drawing teacher, he taught and trained numerous Comtadin painters. Painter of portraits and landscapes, he was also a talented copyist. Louis Gillet in The Treasures of the Provincial Museums wrote "I would like to talk about Denis Bonnet, this Boilly comtadin who deserves a memory alongside Granet".
